Friday Foto: Operation Market Garden anniversary

Those of you who know WWII and/or airborne history will know the significance of today’s date.  So, in honour of the anniversary of the airborne operations element of Operation Market-Garden – and in particular the British airborne landings near Arnhem – we present this photo of the 60th anniversary jump conducted by the Pathfinder Parachute Group in 2004.

I had the good fortune of being able to take part in this jump right next to John Frost Bridge – where the British should have landed – and one at Ginkle Heath – where they actually landed (8 miles away from the objective).   I’m sure you’ll understand when I say that this was the most awesome jump experience of my entire life.  🙂

Strike-Hold! – Lawrence
